The Sanctuary has 3 habitats of rainforest, eucalypt forest and wetlands all in the one easy location, which can be experienced in either a half day or a full day visit.

Reef HQ is the Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef and is committed to promoting marine conservation. Reef HQ is the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium and is a must see attraction in the Townsville region. Reef HQ was built as a Bicentennial Commemorative project and opened in Townsville on 24th June 1987.

Reef HQ is open 7 days a week from 9.30am – 5.00pm, and closed on Christmas Day. Reef HQ is an easy 5-minute walk from the city centre of Townsville, located next to the Museum of Tropical Queensland. Car parking is available opposite Reef HQ and coach parking is located directly in front.
